Hands-on Conservation

TU members believe that streams should not only be preserved, but enhanced whenever possible. Our hands-on work includes miles of bank-side plantings, installation of water current deflectors and cover logs, and a host of bank stabilization projects. Through the use of Vibert boxes we are working to increase the number of ’stream-bred’ trout.

Clean, Cold, Flowing Water

The thousands of members of New Jersey’s eight TU chapters devote countless hours to preserving the aesthetic quality of our waters. Our annual clean-ups have removed tons of trash and debris from such streams as the Toms River, Flat Brook, Rockaway River, South Branch of the Raritan, Musconetcong River, Upper Passaic River, Saddle River the Paulinskill and the Pequannock River.
