Working under the name of Warren County Chapter of Trout Unlimited, NJTU held an initial chartering meeting of what will be our 10th chapter last night, Thursday April 15th at the state’s Pequest Hatchery in Oxford, NJ. There were 17 in attendance to kick off a chapter that will cover some of New Jersey’s best trout waters in the western area of the state to include all of Warren and parts of Hunterdon and Sussex counties. Several additional interested members reached out to let us know that they too plan to join this chapter in the near future but were unable to attend last night’s meeting. A slate of officers was chosen, chapter by-laws were passed and the next chapter meeting will be held on the 3rd Thursday in May (20th) at 7:30 pm at the state’s Pequest Trout Hatchery Education building in Oxford off rt. 46.

Congratulations to all charter members in what promises to be a very effective chapter located in prime NJ trout country! With rivers like the Musconetcong, Pohatcong, Pequest, Paulinskill and many other smaller streams, there will not be a lack of conservation projects for the newest TU chapter. This chapter also inherits two TIC programs, both in Warren County, with the possibility of additional programs during the next school year in September. If you are looking for a new TU chapter and live in western New Jersey, please come out on May 20th to the Pequest Hatchery.
