Stream Cleanup CrewOur input to local, county and State government is necessary to assure conservation of our cold-water fisheries. When common sense and persuasion fail to protect our trout waters New Jersey TU stands ready to take action.

We believe streams should not only be preserved, but enhanced whenever possible. Our hands-on work includes miles of bank-side plantings, installation of water current deflectors and cover logs, and a host of bank stabilization projects. Through the use of Vibert boxes we are working to increase the number of ’stream-bred’ trout.

Our efforts have not only improved the quality of trout fishing in New Jersey but allowed more streams to be enjoyed by all anglers. We negotiated the opening of New Jersey Audubon’s Sherman/Hoffman Sanctuary to catch-and-release angling for the wild trout of the upper Passaic River. Construction of special access points on other rivers allow our waters to be enjoyed by physically challenged and elderly anglers.
